Steve Fein, professor of psychology, will discuss how his and others’ research reveals stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination based on race and ethnicity. Professor Fein will address questions such as: Why are there such different opinions on how much discrimination really exists today? What is “stereotype threat” and how can it have strong effects on academic performance? What can Seinfeld, Bruce Springsteen, and MTV’s The Real World teach us about stereotypes or racism?
