Vijay Prashad, author of 17 books including The Darker Nations: A People’s History of the Third World, The Poorer Nations: A Possible History of the Global South, and The Karma of Brown Folk, will be speaking about subjects related to his latest edited work, Letters to Palestine. Topics he will address include the state of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories, the status of Middle Eastern politics, more generally, including the recent refugee crisis, and how these events tie into a larger context of the effects neoliberalism has on the Global South today. Prashad will tie together the intersections between seemingly disparate movements in order to understand how one can think of a politics of solidarity that challenges neoliberalism in both the Global South and the Global North. Sponsored by Students for Justice in Palestine.
