MinCo Exhibit: A Brief History of Coalitions at Williams

As the Minority Coalition enters its 25th year at Williams, we confront fundamental questions about the MinCoefficacy of institutionalized coalitions and the possibility of representing the diversity of “minority” experiences at Williams. However, it can be difficult to imagine a future for MinCo without knowing its past and how we have arrived where are today. This year’s Steering Board attempts to shed led on how MinCo came to be with a brief look at institutional memory of coalitions that pre-dated MinCo and the most striking highlights from MinCo’s 25 year history. Please feel welcome to leave a message to help guide us in re-imagining MinCo for the future: Does it still make sense to have a ‘Minority Coalition’ on campus? If so, then how can MinCo serve its community better and become more relevant to the challenges students with marginalized identities face today at a liberal arts college like Williams? If not, what is the future of coalition-building on campus? The exhibit will begin February 4 and extend until the end of the month.
