In Dr. Mae Jemison’s November talk at Williams, she discussed the challenges women and other underrepresented minorities face on college campuses and in work environments. At this event, we will discuss imposter syndrome (that is, the tendency to dismiss one’s abilities and accomplishments due to feelings of inadequacy) as experienced by women and minority students at Williams, and brainstorm steps we can take to alleviate this issue. We will begin with three keynote speakers sharing their own experiences of imposter syndrome before opening up into a group discussion. We invite people of all identities to participate.
