Atheists are often viewed in a negative light as many assume that belief in a deity or the carrot and stick (heaven/hell) are necessary for moral behavior. Because of this many atheists are afraid to state their beliefs to others, even at secular institutions and in a society with separation of church and state. In this event, Williams professors (Colin Adams, Julie Blackwood, Matt Carter and Luana Maroja) will discuss how they became comfortable being atheists. After hearing personal stories, the floor will be open for discussion and questions.
12:30 P.M. – 1:45 P.M. Paresky 201 (Reading Room).
