This session will be a trans poetry reading and workshop with poet Kay Gabriel, who recently co-edited with Andrea Abi-Karam the anthology We Want it All: An Anthology of Radical Trans Poetics. Kay will read some of her poetry and/or prose, open the floor to questions, and facilitate a conversation about trans poetics. The event will culminate in a brainstorming session to start planning an in-person trans poetics/trans studies event for later in Spring 2022. The end result will be a workshop that centers trans experiences, supports trans community-building, and engages the relationship among poetry, embodiment, and politics. While this event is open to all members of our community, this will be a trans centered space and we ask that allies who wish to attend should come to the event with consideration and respect.
