Improve access to historic resources that relate to Williams history by transcribing handwritten documents. Transcribing allows you to engage deeply with the content of a historic letter or other manuscript and to improve access by making these documents searchable in the Libraries’ catalog. Discover the details of 18th, 19th, and 20th century life at the College and reflect on what barriers we have overcome at Williams – and the work we still have before us.
Transcribing handwritten documents creates a machine-readable text that allows researchers to search the full text of resources directly in the library catalog. We seek to improve access to resources relating to Williams history by inviting the community into Special Collections in order to demystify the archives and communicate that this is a welcome space for all.
10 AM – 4 PM in Sawyer Library Special Collections.
