Embracing Seasonal Cycles: A winter walk and reflection at Hopkins Memorial Forest

Join us for a short winter walk through Hopkins Memorial Forest (HMF). The focus of the walk will be on winter identification and seasonal adaptations of our local plants and animals, and how human mindsets and activities can or could mirror natural seasonal patterns of rest, renewal, and action. Following the walk we will gather in the Rosenburg Center (at HMF) for reflection and discussion on what ways we already mirror these seasonal patterns, as well as on ways we might adapt our present behaviors to bring them more inline with seasonal energies. Hot apple cider and hot chocolate will be provided.

Important Note: Please come prepared to spend at least 30 minutes outside. A warm coat with lots of warm layers underneath, a hat, and gloves are a must. We will avoid walking through deep snow, but even well traveled trails will be snowy – please wear warm, waterproof footwear appropriate for snowy conditions. If you are interested in attending, but feel you don’t have appropriate outerwear to be comfortable, please contact Elise (info below) well in advance of the event to discuss potential accommodations.

The event runs from 2:00 to 3:30pm. For those requiring a shuttle to HMF, please meet the van at the back of the Paresky Center on Park Street at 2pm. For those with their own transportation, please gather at the Rosenburg Center in HMF (271 NW Hill Road) by 2:10pm

Please RSVP.
