Field Trip to Mystic: Waterways, Indigenous Food Sovereignty and our Interconnected Futures

Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Spend an afternoon at Williams-Mystic, Williams’ coastal campus, for an afternoon exploring this year’s Claiming Williams themes hands-on. Participate in a hands-on cooking demonstration exploring indigenous food sovereignty and coastal traditions with Silvermoon Mars LaRose (Narragansett Niantic), Assistant Director of the Tomaquag Museum (RI). Then Mystic Seaport Museum Associate Curator of Maritime Social Histories Bridget DeLaney-Hall (WM ‘17) leads a private tour of Entwined, the nationally-recognized exhibit centering watery histories in Indigenous, African, and African-descended worldviews. There will be lunch and snacks, as well as free time to explore Mystic Seaport Museum or the town of Mystic.

Vans to depart Williamstown at 8am on Saturday, March 8th,  arriving in Mystic before 11am, and departing at 4pm (to returning to campus by 7pm). Current Williams students only.
