The practice of head wrapping has a rich legacy in the African diaspora. Head wraps hold great spiritual significance in many African cultures and signal beauty and status. Across the Atlantic black women reclaimed the head wraps they were forced to wear as a means of cultural expression and resistance. This workshop will teach participants about the rich history of African head wraps as well as how to wear them. Custom head wraps will be given to participants on a first come, first serve basis.
