Art plays an essential role in the advancement of social justice and cultural revolution as it provides an outlook into the lives of those on the margins. Through examining the art of marginalized identities we begin to understand both the history and relationship one has to society at any given point in time. In tracing these roots of social justice through the visual arts, we can create a platform for reflection on class, gender, and race and reimagine new paths forward. This reimagining will take place through an art workshop where participants will engage with a guest speaker for the first half of the workshop and then be encouraged to self reflect on their own identities. The workshop will finish with painting.
