Romance and Rape Culture in the Clark Collection

Join gallery guides Molly Burroughs ’17 and Alex Mendez ’17 for a discussion of depictions of romance in The Clark’s permanent collection through the lens of the contemporary consciousness of the concept of “rape culture”. The talk will discuss the complexities of scenes depicted in selected artworks, convey the stories behind their creations, and consider the responsibility of both the museum and viewers to acknowledge the issue of consent, and/or lack thereof, in art. Vans will be available to transport people from the Park Street entrance of Paresky to The Clark at 8:45 am, returning 10:30 am. Sponsored by The Clark.
